Frequently Asked Questions
Can we just buy the spray rather than have the mattress treated?
It is recommended to use the spray after the mattress has been treated but the spray has many uses as described
on this website so it is available to purchase separately.
What are the free tests you talk about?
We are able to remove the Hepa filter bags and fit test cloth which will gather a sample of the mattress contents.
Once gathered we can then test the strength of the allergens in the dust.
Can you confirm the time it would take to clean one double mattress? Does the size of the mattress
make much difference time wise i.e. would a single mattress be significantly faster?
The time taken to clean a mattress comes down to how conscientious the individual operator is, for example, I take
30 to 35 minutes to clean a single mattress, but some operators advertise only 10 minutes. We prefer to make sure
it is cleaned properly. A double mattress can take over 50 minutes clean correctly.
Does the mattress require removing from the frame?
Apart from when we turn it over to treat the other side it can remain in the frame.
How often should the bed be treated?
This very much depends upon the severity of the allergy, if bad then every six months is recommended. Less severe
sufferers can wait longer but it is advisable not to leave it longer than twelve months.
Can any type of mattress be cleaned?
Pretty much any type even so called non allergenic mattresses have been tested and found to contain allergens.
Even people with water beds own pillows and duvets!
How old must a mattress be before it requires treating?
We have cleansed mattresses as new as 6 months and as old as 100 years. The first is the norm the latter was
exceptional but both are now as healthy as new.
